An unscripted television drama executive produced by Steve Martin, The Scholar aired on ABC in the summer of 2005 and gave 10 high-achieving yet economically disadvantaged high school seniors the chance to compete for a four-year full ride scholarship to the college of their choice. Students received over $500K in college scholarships through the generous support of the Eli Broad Foundation and Wal-Mart.
